Yesterday I talked about how your blog requires both quality content and persistent content. I referred to those two things as two thirds of a successful blog, so what’s the other 1/3rd?
This ain’t no field of dreams…
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… this isn’t like the movies. Building something good just isn’t enough anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not telling you to go take out a $10,000 advertising campaign for your blog…but what have you done to promote it today?
It can be as simple as making a few thoughtful comments on another related blog, or directory submissions… or any other form of link building. Obviously the more you do, the better it is for you… but if you do a little bit each day, then you’re doing your part to get your content out there.
Commenting on other related blogs is one of the best ways to get the word out. Contribute something worthwhile to the discussion on a post, and some of their readers may just click on over to your site to see what you have to say. Empires and cities are built one brick at a time… the same principle rings true for blogs.
Haven’t done any promotion for your blog today? Why don’t you do some right now!
Good Profits.

Just a thought Dave - it isn’t immediately evident where the ‘comment’ link is on your post, I was looking at the bottom and only found it when I looked up the top. Maybe I’m particularly dense but I almost left without making a comment.
Thanks for the comment over at my blog. I think your blog is the sort of thing I am aiming for, a nice clean look, which I think is more difficult to achieve with blogger. I have looked into the stats in one of my previous posts and WP outweighs blogger by around 5 to 1 for the successful blogs. There are some successful blogger blogs (Paula Monney is pretty successful) but their blogs still look pretty messy compared to WP.

Thanks for the feedback Vic, we’ll look into adding a Comment link at the bottom.
I’m not surprised at those ratios, but again that’s simply because wordpress is such a powerful system that is easily extended with the many plugins available.
re: my blog, I cheat a little bit. I happen to run a web development company as my day job, so it’s a little easier for me to get stuff done up :)
