Hello everyone! It’s your favorite guest blogger here.
As Dave has excitedly shared already, we are going the SES Toronto in about 7 days time. I have to admit I’m not as pumped up about the event as Dave ,but it does look interesting and I am grateful to the show organizers for giving us both press passes.
To kick things off, I am planning to attend the “Local Search: A Growth Industry” presentation, and since Dave has already decided to attend the Site Clinic presentation, I will probably check out “Keyword Research: Purpose, Tools, and Tactics”.
I have a mild interest in local search, since in the next few months we may be forced to launch a new mysites network on new domains - and you never know if you can make some extra money selling SEO services to local businesses.
Keyword research has always been a bit of a problem for me; I have many of the best tools out there, however I find the publicly available resources on traffic stats, etc., are wildly inaccurate - so I’m hoping to learn a new method of keyword research… *crosses fingers* …though ultimately I may end up sitting in on Dave’s choice, because that presentation interests me a lot more.
Finally, after a quick lunch and a walk around the convention floor, I will attend the “Search Engine Friendly Design”. The presentations being held between 3pm and 4:15pm don’t really interest me, so I will probably explore the convention hall until the cocktail reception begins at 5:45pm.
A number of our legitimate sites I believe have serious problems when it comes to Spider-friendly navigation, and since splitting up a number of our properties I now own these designs. However, I don’t want to spend money on modifying them, so it would be extremely useful if I could learn something from this presentation that could help.
This will be my first conference related to our online business, so I’m hoping to walk away with some new knowledge, but I also have attended a number of conferences for other things in the past and walked away shaking my head… so I’m hoping this won’t be another one of those times.
