As you may or may not know, depending on how long you’ve been reading (because we haven’t talked about it in quite some time), EasyByDesign is one of our newest business ventures. It’s part of our overall strategy to diversify our income and avoid being dependent on one set of Internet properties for our income.
Over the weekend, we made our first actual sale! We have been courting several interested parties, and continue to do so, but I don’t count a sale until we have the money in hand. The sale was generated by me, and due to my day job, I am pretty sure I will be driving the growth of EBD early on.
My web development company does fairly high-end work (we don’t touch any new clients for under a $1500 - 2000 project, usually) and I have a lot of inquiries from parties who aren’t looking to spend nearly that much on their website, so now I refer them to Easy By Design, of course!
I’m going to be advertising my web development company fairly heavily this year, so that should only help EBD grow. I’m excited to start developing the client list of Easy By Design, as I feel that the product is solid, and residual income is usually the most stable type of income stream to generate.
Starting next week, we’ll be spending some of our saved-up ad budget on a direct mailing Jay and I have put together. Depending on how successful that campaign is, we may end up spending most of our initial ad dollars on direct mail. We’ll have to see how it works out first though.
Good profits!

Congrats on your first sale. Tat’s crazy. $1500-2000 per project. You will be rich soon. I guess it depends on how many projects you do.

Well that’s my main business, running sites with Jay is a hobby. That’s what our average project starts at, often times they are closer to 5 - 10k.
We don’t do tons every year, but enough to do alright :)
