We’ve been back at active updating for over a month now and our blog’s traffic has been growing nicely. Obviously the most important aspect of a blog is the content. If people don’t find what your writing interesting or helpful, then they won’t come back.
After you’ve got your content down, getting people to notice you is the next hurdle you face. We’ve already implemented (and blogged about) a few techniques that we’ve used to grow our traffic and we have some more we’ll be exploring in the near future, but all in all I’m happy with how things have progressed with the blog’s growth.
Traffic Goals
Right now we’re getting at least a hundred some odd visitors every day, my personal goal for the end of this month is to double that to at least around 200 visitors per day. Jay feels that 150 is a more realistic goal, but I’ve always been the glowing optimist of the partnership! We’ll have to see where we are at the end of April, but we’ll let you guys know!
General Observations
I am having a blast running this blog with Jay. I hope you guys like the content as much as I like putting it together for you. It’s also good to be writing on a regular basis, it gives me a chance to flex my creative muscles - something I don’t get to do too often in my day job.
We’ve been having trouble getting MyBlogLog to allow me to invite Jay as a co-author to the blog on their site, but I’m in contact with the support team. It’s not overly useful, but the stats are somewhat interesting and I must admit I enjoy being able to see who has been reading the blog.
I notice John Chow and Shoemoney visit occasionally; the vanity in me likes to think they give a crap about what we’re writing here on our tiny little blog, but the realist in me knows they are more likely just wondering who these comment whores are who keep flooding their site with comments. :)
