So everyone is familiar with John Chow’s famous review my blog for a link back scheme by now, and many people are copying it. However, what if you want to promote a site that isn’t a blog? For instance, we make no money from blogging (yet!); all our online income comes from non-blog sites.

So, I will be scouring the web and drawing from our own experience to bring you little tidbits of linking strategy every week. On to this week’s tip!

Quality Web Design

Content is king, or at least that’s what everybody says, right? It’s true, content is one of the most important parts of a money-making website, but just because content is important doesn’t mean everything else gets thrown out the window. There are many, many ways a nice, attractive, and professional web design for your site can help you generate buzz and linkbait people.

In our experience, having a nice design really increases the level of response you get from webmasters, when you’re contacting them to exchange links or linkbaiting them. When a site is clean looking, with a nice design it just seems more legitimate at first glance.

So, you’ve got killer content that people are going to go crazy over, but they can’t go crazy over it if they don’t see it. There are tons of web design forums on the net that have “review my site sections”. When you post a really attractive design, people post (sometimes with suggestions on improving it, which is even better) just to compliment the design.

When people post on your review thread, human nature kicks in and more people check it out to see why other people are posting on your thread… and before you know it, you’ve got a bunch of free traffic. These are people who may become regular visitors or even link to something they find interesting on your site. What was the cost of this free traffic? About 20 seconds of your time to create a post.

Here’s a real world example: several weeks ago, I posted for a review of EasyByDesign on WebhostingTalk. It’s generated just shy of 200 visits and traffic is still trickling in. That’s just from one site… and there are literally hundreds of them out there.

Having trouble finding someone to make you a top notch design? Speak of the devil, EasyByDesign is at your service! (P.S. We can do Wordpress designs for that price as well).

Yea, I really want to spend some money on a really sleek, clean and simple design when get the money needed. That is one of my top priorities. Because if people dislike your design, they wont be compelled to come back later.

I should add that we’ve already commissioned a new design for our blog.. So it shouldn’t be long before we have a new look on the site here.
