I’m writing this on Tuesday evening, and my link has been on the top commentator spot at John Chow’s blog since Sunday evening. I can only find about 18 links from JohnChow.com in our stats, but our traffic has gone up considerably. We usually get (when there are no external factors like a review me on another site, etc.) between 50 - 60 visits a day. Sunday and Monday were both over 90 and Tuesday’s partial results look like they will end up over 90 as well. All and all for the effort, it seems to be paying off. We’ve also noticed a distinct jump in the amount of commenting that’s going on…this is always a good sign!

We’re not really sure specifically where the traffic is coming from. I’ve been trying my best to post relevant and helpful stuff that adds to the conversation about the post (though, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to the occasional peanut gallery quip). So, we’re wondering if people are reading the comments and clicking over here from after reading what I’ve posted there, or if they’re clicking on the top commentator link.

Perhaps you can help us out! If you surfed on over here from JohnChow.com, comment on this post letting us know where you came from and any general thoughts you may have about the blog.

We’re also expanding this little experiment. Jay is currently posting comments on the Shoemoney blog. I’m sure he’ll give a report on how that turns out.

Commenting at Shoemoney kinda worked, I visited here just to see why a guy named Jay has his site at davesaraiva.com. :)

I am not sure about the other traffic but I usually will check out the top commentators’ link. Because if they’re so passionate to comment, there must be something interesting at their site that they wanna share. And your blog content is interesting ;)

And owh, the tagline “Crazy web entrepreneurs got me hooked too. Guess first impression matters a lot ;)

I think you have to be a bit crazy to be involved in online business, some days it feels like your that shady guy who makes a living off poker earnings…

Ahh well thanks for letting us know about the tag line, I’m sure Dave will be holding it over my head for weeks to come :)

  6. Dave Says:

I came here from your link on the top commentators on johnchow.com. This is exactly what i was looking for too. I was curious as to if all those comments are really worth the traffic you receive. Seems like it might be.

There is another post scheduled for tomorrow that discusses how this has turned out.

Stay tuned for more about this and other ways of generating blog traffic :)
