A little over a week ago, Dave and I launched 2 brand new sites and I promised to keep our readers in the loop as we built the sites from scratch.

Well for starters, Dave has been running our John Cena fan site, while I’ve been managing the Black Eyed Peas site. This past Friday, we dedicated a very unproductive work day towards the sites just adding images etc. I also managed to start link building for Bep-fan.com and had an excellent response, even though I made sure to only send out a handful of emails. It definitely pays to have a slick design!

So after 1 week, Bep-fan.com is now almost completely indexed by Google, and I even managed to score my first click from a search term (yay!!). I don’t really plan on getting a large number of clicks for at least another 2 months, as I am purposely dragging out the link building schedule to avoid a huge spike of links in the first month and then be stuck with a bad link profile. To some extent it’s unavoidable, but the more I drag it out, hopefully it will be less likely to get caught in any filters.
Looking at the records, cenasource hasn’t been quite as lucky under Dave’s management, as I can only find the RSS feed indexed so far - but it’s still early in the game and I know Dave’s been busy working on our blog.
This week I’m hoping we can begin a different sort of work schedule and hopefully replace the problematic work days with scheduled times during the week. As much as I love the work day concept, it’s hard to stay motivated for 6-8 hours, and neither of us really does a good job of pushing and prodding when someone isn’t getting much done. It’s sort of funny… up until about a week ago, I actually lost $150 every time we took a work day; now my employer has agreed to let me take paid work days, and now I only feel they are necessary for site launches.

One Response to “2 Sites Update #1 - Jay’s Perspective”

Love the Bep site. Calling it an “unproductive work day” when adding all the pictures isn’t giving you enough credit. It was well worth your time. Thanks! Also, your strategy on link building efforts for the site sound like they’re right on.
