Okay, so maybe I put the cart ahead of the horse a little bit with the headline, but for a little over a year now some people have been making sensationalist claims about the end of PPC advertising and heralding the coming of PPA (pay per action) advertising.
Today I have mixed feelings to hear that Google has just launched a beta of their new PPA program. From the looks of it there’s a lot of potential, and long term it may just be what the online world needs to keep the net dot com bubble from bursting. However from a publisher’s perspective, I’m more than a little concerned about how this could affect my somewhat predictable revenue - and with my experience using Amazon, I’m not really impressed by the ability of ads to actually convert into sales… but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.
