Last night, my girlfriend and I sold our townhouse and were finally able to sleep without having the whole selling process hanging over our heads… when we started once again to hear these loud noises coming through the walls.
As a bit of background, about 8 months ago the townhouse attached to our bedroom was bought by a seemingly nice couple; they minded their own business and we rarely ever heard more than some footsteps pounding up the stairs… but about 3 months ago we started to hear noises through the wall almost every night, often til around 12am. Our first thought was that it must be a tv or something, since our place is actually pretty good for noise and our other neighbor has to really crank his home theatre up before we start to hear anything. But last night, after banging on the wall the night before, I figured surely at 11:45pm I wouldn’t be unreasonable to go over and just let them know that whatever they were doing was coming through the walls…
I was expecting them to just say “oh sorry we didn’t know” or perhaps a impromptu but reasonable discussion on how late the volume could be up that high so both of us could be happy, or something along those lines.
Unfortunately, what I got was a shrug and a “it’s only 11:45pm, I’m not sure what I can tell you, our schedule is just different”.
This morning, that exchange reminded me of a recent and equally stupid email we received from our waterloo classified ad site… apparently a young lady who, the year before, had been involved in a scandal of sorts - which involved images of her showing parts of her body to guys around the school, and photographs of this getting out on the internet - searched for her name on Google. The fact that our site was appearing for her name without her permission upset her so much she emailed us demanding we immediately remove our site from ranking for her name.
……..
Some people indeed…

[…] The process was quite agonizing, but our real estate agent Jorie Presswood did an amazing job at the negotiating table and we managed to shave about $9,000 off the asking price… so if you live in the Mississauga area, you should definitely give her a call!! Overall, I would say I am quite excited to move, our new house looks great and finally there will be no more annoying neighbors slamming doors at 1:30am. It’s got 4 bedrooms, 3 washrooms and a perfect 12′ x 30′ room in the basement for my home theater. For resale, it’s got a large lot and overlooks a large park, so we have a lot of things to look forward to. I’m sure most of you don’t care, but I had to show off just once, and when we finally move in I will post an update that includes our furniture (or lack thereof), so ’til then… Like this post?
