I’ll have to admit, I was quite skeptical of the whole webcam idea originally…but it has been working out pretty well despite my original misgivings. Realistically, I think even just a headset with a microphone would be sufficient. Being able to vocalize any thoughts on the business etc. during the work day and get a vocal response immediately does wonders for keeping me on task and getting things accomplished (something I have a notoriously hard time doing on my own)
Right now it works very well because Jay and I are about 45 minutes away from each other and that’s a lot of driving time and gas money every week for us. I’m hoping until I move closer to Jason later this year we can focus mostly on teleconferencing work days with a few in person work days.
In the future, when we’re only about 15 minutes apart, working together in person more often will make a lot more sense, depending on how things go we may even end up getting an office location, but for right now this setup is working very well and will save us a lot of money, especially Jason since he drives a monster of a truck that sucks the gas back like a pregnant woman and peanut butter..it looks sort of like this:

Anyway, the actual work day itself went pretty smoothly as well. I finished all the remaining site updated required and will probably join Jason building links next week. He had a phenomenal response to his link requests today and we should have yet another site ranked on page one of Google in the near future. Constantly hearing “got another link” setup from Jason was very motivating too. He was getting responses within hours of sending out the requests which is really unheard of…at least for us. We also worked out a deal that fits our budget with the web designer from my day job (who’s extremely talented) to re-design the websites as we start to get them ranked on Google (the current designs we use are very rudimentary and may be mistaken for a MFA site, so we want to get away from that). We got the proof for the first site he’s done for us today, and it’s fantastic now we just need to source an inexpensive CSS coder and we’re set in that regard.
We still have some hurdles to jump, but things are looking up and I’m excited for what the future holds :)

Hey now! I never said anything about the “niceness” of your truck, just that is sucks down gas like an open drain! :) My little civic may not be all that pretty, but it gets me from point a to point b without $50 in gas :)

Yes but if my truck ever by chance impacted your Civic… We both know whose walking away and whose going to the morgue.. Trust me after you plow through your first low riding Civic with a pickup you’ll never want to go car again… That being said I think my political aspirations are over after this comment

Hey, just a tip for making the blog posts line up appropriately: make sure that each post (images included) has nothing wider than 300-350 pixels. Otherwise the right column will get pushed down, as you’ve probably noticed. You can link in a new window to larger items…
Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up Phil, your template has been quite handy for us. We’re probably going to redesign the look a bit shortly though.
