As Dave posted we are planning on a major gear up for 2007, in some ways I have to admit I am a little skitish going in espically after the rough ride Google has been giving us the past few months both with a suspected month of smart pricing and following it up this month with the banning of our favorite adsense placement strategy…
We have tested a fair number of alternatives but I can’t honestly say any have really done well, even Dave’s spammy technique has fallen flat more often then not only beating out the usual rectangle placement by only a few percentage points..
That being said its not all doom and gloom on the horizon, we have a fairly uncompetitive niche in which there is scads and scads of traffic to make up for our lower click through rate..
I have a number of ideas to speed up the process unfortunately nothing is free and many of these ideas will cost a good deal of money.. For instance we only have so many terms in our niche we can target with reciprocal linking tactics and definately will have to work 10x harder even for the easier terms using nothing but reciprocal links so how do we get around that? Well in order to get 1 way links I believe we need to be very aggressive on the content side of the business and create something noone else is…
That something is what will determine the fate of our business and ultimately it may be the most important something we create in either of our lives.. No pressure.. but I do believe that this will be the last period in either of lives where we can purse an idea or dream without having families to provide for so if we don’t do it this year I doubt we ever will..
I do have a number of ideas for what to try, but like most ideas everything costs capital and at some point this week I will speak with Dave about some things we can try and hopefully we can agree to give some of them a try but once we have talked about them I will post a list of them on this site and I think at that point we can also reveal the niche we are in to boot.. but thats up to Dave I suppose..
