Adventures in monetization or how Bidvertiser lost a publisher.

So I’m continuing in my quest to earn something out of the traffic on our Myspace Layout site, because it does geta good chunk of traffic and it’s just costing us bandwidth at the moment. Casale media turned us down, I’m not really sure why…we didn’t get an explanation. So I consulted John Chow’s handy Other Advertising Networks Besides Google AdSense post.
I went down the list of CPC networks looking for recognizable names. Saw YPN first, but we’re in Canada so that’s out. Next I noticed Bidvertiser. Now I’m pretty motivated to get this site earning, plus most websites (including bidvertiser) aren’t organized that great and it’s hard to find the information that you want.
So I tracked down the phone for their publisher department off the website and gave them a ring. They didn’t have anyone to talk to me, and insisted I had to issue a support ticket. So I thanked them for their time, but let them know I was just going to move on to the next publisher, which was…
Clicksor, entirely different experience. I started by trying to use their live chat feature, I was 2nd in queue which was not too bad…but then I was automatically kicked to a submit a ticket feature. Next I found a number listed as the publisher department. The secretary informed me that the number wasn’t actually for the publisher department but was happy to forward me to someone who would talk to me. I didn’t have to wait at all, a very helpful guy named Wayne answered all my questions about general payouts and requirements etc. He then took a look at the site itself to confirm it would be a good match for their service and then set up my account for me right there himself. (Well technically he went for lunch, then set up the account, but I’m not gonna fault the guy for that :)
We’re now serving clicksor ads on the site and we’ll have to see how it goes. So far the experiences with them have been great. I will keep you guys posted.
